Transport Planner
Location: Chepstow, NP16 6UP
Pay Rate: £14.42 per hour
Shifts: Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern of 06:00-15:00 and 11:00-20:00
We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to support the Contract Manager and Shift Manager with the day-to-day running of a busy transport operation. This role is ideal for someone with previous transport office experience who is confident managing driver activities, planning vehicle movements, and ensuring excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan daily routes and allocate deliveries and collections.
- Build driver schedules and maximise vehicle utilisation.
- Reduce empty mileage and select the most suitable vehicles for each job.
- Communicate delivery updates and delays to customers.
- Deal with failed deliveries and customer queries.
- Support and coordinate a team of drivers.
- Respond to operational issues such as breakdowns, accidents, and damaged loads.
- Help resolve customer complaints and operational challenges.
- Ensure transport activities are completed safely and efficiently.
What We''re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a Transport Operator, Transport Planner, or similar transport office role.
- Experience supporting and managing drivers.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and solve problems quickly.
- Good knowledge of transport operations and route planning.
- A proactive and positive attitude.
